Jasmine tea is a Chinese green tea that is scented with Jasmine flowers. This tea is extremely popular because the Jasmine flavor softens the astringency of the tea leaf. It is light, delicate, and floral. Despite the caffeine, Jasmine tea drinkers often report calming and aromatherapeutic effects. The tea leaves are dried alongside freshly plucked Jasmine flowers in a contained space, so that the Jasmine flower scent “rubs off” on the tea leaf. You may see a Jasmine flower here and there in this tea, but it is not dried Jasmine flowers giving the flavor to the tea.
